Overview

We all know that innovation is in Porsche's DNA. Porsche released an updated 2022 Porsche Macan that borrows from the 2021 Macan, albeit with enhanced all-around features. Newer isn't always better, but let's see. We analyze how both cars match up against each other and which one is superior.



Performance

The base trim 2022 Macan features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 261 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, an upgrade of 13 horsepower and 22 pound-feet from its predecessor. It does 0-60 is 5.8 seconds, compared to the 6.1 of the 2021 model. However, the big boy trim is the GTS. The GTS Macan 2022 has a twin-turbo V6 engine delivering 434 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque; 27 horsepower and 29 pound-feet more than the turbocharged 2021 Macan.


Design

The striking leather upholstery and auto-dimming mirrors exude elegance in the 2022 model. It also features a taller rear diffuser and 19-inch wheels. There aren't many exterior upgrade from the predecessor.

The 2022 Macan features all the improvements from the 2021 Macan's interior. Instead of the cluttered control panel, you have touch-sensitive controls housing lane assist, rear park assist, and haptic feedback, among other features.



Driver Assistance Systems

In addition to the rear park assist and lane departure warning, the Porsche Macan 2022 adds self-steering park assist, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with lane change assist.

The 2022 Macan combines utility and sportier vibes. Its exterior does not befuddle many drivers who have owned the 2021 model. However, major engine advancements and interior overhauls make the 2022 Porsche Macan a clear winner.
