It Has So Much Horsepower that It Doesn’t Matter
The 2020 Taycan is available in three versions: 4S, Turbo, and Turbo S. Even for those of us accustomed to Porsche’s taunt drivelines, the quickness of 4S’s instant electric torque is a mind-bender. The “entry-level” 4S zero-to-60s in 3.8 seconds. That’s with a Porsche Launch Control boost to 562 horsepower. Turbo will do 3.0 second zero-to-60s (670 boosted horsepower) and the Turbo S will hit 2.6 seconds (750 boosted). 4S top speed is 155 mph; 161 on the Turbos.
It’s All-Wheel Drive
All Taycan versions deliver power to all four wheels. The 4S and Turbo do this via dual motors. The Turbo S engages a third motor for special power occasions. All three models have a two-speed transmission that allows the driver to customize the car’s driving style to the situation. Porsche engineers took advantage of the electronic nature of EVs to deliver some impressive computer-driven power delivery to keep the Taycan on the road even when the driver tests her limits.
It Charges in 90 Minutes
Porsche pushed the industry’s leading-edge with an 800-volt electrical architecture. This allows the Taycan to charge from five percent to 80 percent in about 23 minutes if you have or are near a 270-kilowatt charging station that can deliver the electricity that fast. It’s a Daily Driver
All three Taycans are equipped with a 93 kWh battery that gives a 200+ mile range across the board. The 4S has been tested to deliver more than 230 miles in normal driving conditions, which is plenty for commuting, running errands, and going to dinner after. It Seats Four
Slightly smaller than the Panamera, the Taycan has adult-sized rear seats. It also has a full-sized trunk at the rear and another trunk upfront.
