Top 7 Porsche Maintenance Tips for Every OwnerPorsche owners have cars that exude timeless style, sportiness, speed, and high luxury. That makes the upkeep of your vehicle really important so that you can enjoy and rely on it for many years. Read on for the top Porsche maintenance tips to ensure the best performance and to protect your investment long term.

1. Have the Brakes Checked

Have your brakes checked annually and consider twice a year if you tend to have a heavy foot. If you hear squealing noises, it’s a sign to have your brakes and brake fluids checked. If your vehicle has been sitting for long periods, the brake discs may be subject to corrosion, so it’s important to pay attention to your brakes.

2. Inspect Your Tires

Having good traction is vital for your vehicle and that’s not possible without excellent tread on the tires. Two things to look for are proper tread depth (a tool is handy for this) and the manufacturing date on the tire itself. A tire may look fine to the eye, but unsafe due to worn spots you can’t detect. Check your tire pressure frequently, and don’t wait for the instrument panel to warn you of a low tire.

3. Use the Right Engine Oil

High-quality motor oil is imperative to keep your vehicle in a high-performance state. Most require a high-grade synthetic oil, and to have the oil changed at least once a year regardless of the number of miles driven to keep the engine running optimally. Old oil prevents the engine from running smoothly and can shorten the life of the inner parts and thus the vehicle itself.

4. Keep Your Car Protected From the Sun

Keeping your car under cover from the glaring rays is sometimes overlooked by owners. UV light can wear down, fade, and age the vehicle very quickly if you don’t keep it protected. Use a car cover, store it in the garage, or carport when not in use to keep the elements away.

5. Inspect the Battery

Battery life is shortened in the heat, so make sure to inspect it at least yearly. It’s also important to check the connections and hoses to make sure they’re in good shape with no cracks or dirt build-up. Your car battery can typically last up to 5 years if well taken care of.

6. Check Your Fluids Regularly

Check your coolant fluid to make sure it’s at least at the minimum level or higher. If your coolant is low, higher temperatures can lead to overheating and cause expensive damage to your engine. Its also important (and easy) to check your steering, engine oil, and windshield washer fluid levels to keep the vehicle running smoothly and safely.
